India tour of West Indies Preview

Team India arrived in Caribbean to play the four test series which is going to be commenced from 21st of July. BCCI has announced that India will participate in 18 test matches in this calendar year. The series will be held in the duration of one month. Test series will conclude on 22nd of August. Anil kumble is the new head coach appointed by the Special Committee. Virat Kohli is the skipper of Indian side and this is his second oversees campaign as skipper. In his first series as captain oversees, Virat kohli was triumphant against Srilanka. India are currently placed second in ICC rankings with 122 points and West Indies are placed at eighth position with 65 points.

First test match between the sides took place in 1948,which is won by west indies. So far 96 matches were played between these the two nations. West Indies has the clear upper hand in terms of results. They have won on 30 occasions ,Where as India has only won on sixteen times. India won its first series against West Indies was in 1971.India discovered a new batting talent in that series, Sunil Gavasker, Who is the first player in the history of cricket to score 10,000 runs. Ajit Wadekar was the skipper of the side.

India’s campaign in Caribbean

Kapil dev led India to West Indies once in 1980’s when they were defeated. Sachin tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly also weren’t Successful in the Caribbean islands. After a long time,Dravid won India a test series in the carribean with 1-0 in four match series. Dhoni was also victorious in the Carribean Islands. Now its Virat kohli’s turn to prove his skills and join the likes of Dravid, Wadekar and DHoni.

Team India were given two practise matches before they step in main arena . First match will be against WICBPIX, Which will start from ninth of june.
