Sri lanka manages to win a thriller in first T20I against Bangladesh. But full marks to spirited Bangladesh who fought well against world no 1 side sri lanka and lost by 2runs.It was a situation where Bangladesh need 17 of last over with five wickets in hand, Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal handed over the ball to Thisera Perrera . One would have thought it is a cake walk for Sri lanka. But Bangladeshi youngster Anamul Bijoy made Srilanka wait till the last ball. Bijoy who is palying only his second T20I managed 6 runs in the first two balls which made the equation tighter. Anamul Haque Bijoy played one to keeper and opted to keep strike which resulted reza’s runout. With 11 runs required of last 3 balls Bijoy has hit two fours through the covers. Thisera perrra bowled a full toss in the waist region and picked up a catch of his own Bowling, Umpires referred with third umpires if its above waist height, but its not, Sri lanka managed to win and take the lead in the two match series.
It’s Kusal perera, the man of the match who has given a good start With 64 of 44 balls with a very healthy Strike rate of 144. In the post match presentation he said “They bowled very good areas, so I tried to score quickly in the first few overs, then get settled down. Team-wise we are very confident about the World Twenty20 – it’s going very well.” Sri lankan Captain Chandimal has applauded Kusal perera for his start to the team and Nuwan Kulasekera for his batting in the final overs and felt this is very good opportunity just before T20 world cup as Bangladesh is the Host and would like to take full advantage of it. Also applauded Bangladesh side for their performance. Bangladesh skipper in the post match presentation said “Boys played really well and we were really close. Nasir has been a champion fielder for us. Anamul played very well. I’m happy with my own comeback, but I could have done much better. The last year we’ve played really well and we can fight with Sri Lanka. A big tournament is coming up for us and this series is a good opportunity to figure ourselves out.”
